Valentine's Day Dream Catcher:

I love Dream Catchers! I've always been fascinated with dreams since I was a kid and they fit right in with my style of painting. So of course, they hang all over my art studio. I also like to personalize them and make them for my friends as gifts. This one is for one of my very best friends who shares her birthday with Valentine's Day. Happy Birthday Nikki!  :)

Below is a picture of all the materials I used. However, these can all be swapped out with whatever fits your desired style.

I always like to plan out my design by laying everything out on the table to visualize what the final dream catcher might look like.

The treasure! I like to find one special thing that really reminds me of the person I am creating the dream catcher for. This sparkly heart with a  crown is perfect for the Queen of Hearts, born on Valentines with a heart of gold! I love this!&…

You can get these metal rings at most craft stores or you can use pretty much use anything round or roundish. I'm using hemp cord to wrap around the circle and hot glue to hold it in place.

Next take your string, I'm using an artificial sinew and loop it around the ring. I made 10 intervals once it reached back to the top.

Tip: I found it easier to wrap my string around a pencil so that it weaves in and out of the webbing easier.

Now loop the string over and back up the first line of string, like shown above. Continue this same loop around each of the 10 original sections created. This will create the webbing of your dream catcher.

Continue until you reach the center. Here I tied on the heart jewel so it would hang directly in the middle.

Now you can tie feathers, beads, or ribbon to hang on  your dream catcher. I am using all of the above!

Since this one is a Valentine's theme I am stringing red and clear beads and adding a feather dipped in glitter! You can dip them yourself or buy feathers with glitter already on them. I got these at Hobby Lobby already dipped in glitter and perfect…

After stringing your beads tie them to the bottom of your dream catcher.

Continue to add your beads and feathers. I found these pretty pink flowers to add the final touch to this dream catcher. Have fun creating your own! For more inspiration check out my website at www.michellethornburgart.com
